I am the 99%

Lincoln Park encampment of Occupy Maine.

On Thursday I loaded up my truck with all the supplies I could scrounge here at the farm and from the Co-op and headed down to Portland to the Occupy Maine campsite.  Unloaded and turned right back around to get home.

I plan on making this trip every Thursday as long as the occupation lasts.  It is what I can do to support this most excellent movement.  I can’t go to NYC or DC.    I can’t even stay in Portland for longer than the few minutes it takes to unload the truck but I can keep these inspiring folks fed and warm with whatever supplies I can gather for them.

If you wish to donate you can contact me here by making a comment.  The Occupy folks keep a list of what they need on their Facebook page under “notes”.  Or email me at hgarrold at yahoo.com.

It was a very quick trip!

Great idea! When I get back to DC I can take the bus down to the protest and take a bag or two of food. I’ll check out their Facebook page for what they need.

  2. It’s great all the support this movement is getting. I’m sure the DC folks will be happy to see you (and the food!)
